It's been a while since I have had fresh new pictures. University is really cramping my style. However, I just got a roll developed that has about a month's worth of photos on it that I would like to share.

To start us off, we have a photo of the chandelier at Chloe's apartment of off Fairfax. Never really realized it existed; that was until it was the first thing I saw upon waking up underneath it one rainy Los Angeles morning after I night I can't quite remember. So I reached to the left, grabbed my camera, and stole it. An opulent way to greet the day.

Here we have another example of my photo developer taking great poetic license and editing my photos as he saw fit, fuck you very much. However, as I am in a very zen mood at the moment, being on vacation on a little island in the Pacific, I've decided to, what is it? Accept the things I cannot change?

So--on the left was a photo of the remains of my weekly mussel dinner at The Wilshire with Erica and on the left, silver orbs in the pool at The Shangri-La Hotel.

Although it wasn't my intention, I have to give the developer his due credit for making me realize the similarities between the two photos that have now become one. Its all about unnatural environments. But then again, what environment is natural for silver orbs?

No, thats not Paris (no comment), it's the opulent adult-themed haven known as Las Vegas.

About 30 minutes after my Practice of Sociological Research final last week, I jumped in the car with two friends and headed to Las Vegas. It was just what I needed; a weekend of a fashionably trashy alcohol induced haze to wipe away the stagnant memory of university. I hadn't been to Vegas since last December, but nothing has changed. And just to prove that I hadn't either, I wore Prada every night.

I'm really starting to love the art scene in Los Angeles. It's serious, but serious fun. A little less business than it's New York counterpart and a little more relaxed than it's European relative. People come to the openings to look at the other party-goers just as much as the art itself. With photographers from the LA Times and LA Weekly in attendence, it seems that the interest is spreading. Art critics and historians bring their children swaddled in organic BabyBjorns, trophy girlfriends bring their sugary daddies, and club kids momentarily distracted from Hollywood Blvd bring their Chanel backpacks. Not to say that art itself isn't appreciated, she's the life of the party.

Gabriell Page at lunch looking out over a beautiful day in the city from the roof of Barney's. Michele, Gabi, and I were invited to the Lanvin trunk show at Barney's the other week to see the spring 2011 collection that just showed in Paris--needless to say, we went.

Lanvin has been one of my favorites for a long, long time. To put it into perspective, last year on my way back from South Africa I made a quick stop in Paris just to buy a pair of Lanvin sandals that weren't available in the U.S. Lanvin didn't disappoint then and they didn't this season either. All I can really say is Damn. The detail that Alber Elbaz puts into every single piece is kind of unbelievable. You can be sure that you are buying more than clothing when you buy Lanvin, you're quite literally buying into Lanvin's (and Alber's) identity. Something I am happy to do.

Its been raining all day in Southern California and that combined with cancelled classes and cancelled meetings allows for sleeping, drinking wine, and posting photos. This leisure time is definitely a good thing, because these photos require a fucking explanation. My good friends at Walgreens never cease to amaze me with their incompetence. While one of my hobbies is taking photos, one of theirs is not properly developing them.

Regardless, this is what was salvaged from the photos of Gabriell Page's birthday. To tell you the truth, I'm actually not hating this effect. It's the 50/50 Bar of photography. However, allow me to explain: the first photo is of the cupcakes at Gabi's surprise birthday picnic and Michele Daniels with the portrait of Lil' Wayne that she created for Gabi for her birthday. Second, we have cupcakes (continued) and the start of the night at the Shangri La Hotel. Lastly, we have the beginning of the night at the Shangri La (continued) and then the end of it. Spectacular day, unbelievable night.

Although these photos clearly did not come out the way I intended, my dear friend Liz Una Kim once told me that nothing I do is neither incidental nor accidental. I'm beginning to see the truth in her words.

A quick "Cheers to Fashion". Ran (again, not literally) to Michele's birthday dinner at Haru before they gave away our table. Feasted. Headed to the Opening Ceremony after-party at Teddy's where we all danced, drank, and celebrated till about 2am. Home and in bed by 3.

I realize I have been lacking with the posts as of recent, but it was my birthday week and honestly, you can't be expected to do anything productive during you're birthday week.

Instead of a party on a somewhat larger scale (reminiscent of the Masquerade at the Viceroy Hotel I had last year which ended up with three people ripping my clothes off and putting me in the bathtub by midnight), I opted for an intimate dinner party at my hill-side hideaway. Seeing as I do NOT cook, I had the meal catered by my favorite macrobiotic cafe, M Cafe de Chaya. Guests dinned on wild salmon wraps, vegetable tempura, an array of sushi, kale salad with peanut dressing, soba noodles, and scarlet quinoa. All followed by a white vanilla bean cake with your's truly's initials on the top.

We ate, we drank, we danced and we laughed. What I got from that night was that I am loved and I am blessed. Honestly thanks you to everyone who came. (And thanks to Amy at M Cafe and Jesse at Vanilla Bake shop...I literally couldn't have done it without you.)

I went to Jay Jay Burridge's show at my friend Natalie's gallery in Beverly Hills this last week and all I can say is wow. I'm sure nobody knows this, but had a dinosaur-themed birthday party when I was 5 with life-size cut outs of different dinosaurs all though the garden (yes, I was one of those children), but this took it to a whole other level. Heaven.
